Chris, Howard and Ahmed Strike Gold at Gateshead

Thirteen Medals at Worlds for South West Vets

Chris Maddocks achieved the rare distinction of winning two gold medals in the M40 5K and 20K walk. Howard Moscrop did almost as well with a gold in the 400 metres hurdles and a silver in the 110 metres hurdles, also in the M40 age group. Our third outright winner was Ahmed Amraoui who led home in the M50 5000 metres.

Mary Wixey and Jean Fail also came away with two medals. Mary won silver in the long jump and bronze in the triple jump for W75, while Jean won bronze in both the 80 metres hurdles and the long jump for W45. Other individual medallists were Viv McConnell (silver in the W40 5000 metres), Robin Nash (silver in the M40 marathon), Anthony Bateman (silver in the M60 high jump) and Zina Marchant (bronze in the W45 marathon).
